Contextual links is one of the great features in Drupal 7 for us as developers to provide a user friendly environment for the content editor of the site. It has been a great frustration for me that some pieces of content, specifically field based views, have not been able to provide contextual links the same way as regular pages or "full content/teaser" views have. The intuitivity of contextual links for an untrained editor is hard to beat, at the same time the way in which you can assemble and manipulate various pieces of data in a field based view is also hard to beat.
